I want to come home

Let me just say that I am celebrating now because my MA professor decided not to show up today. How amazeballs is that? Also, please join me as I welcome the newest additions to my book collection, some haul from the book sale that happened a couple of weeks ago. Your junk, my treasure.

So, let’s go to today’s song. Not mine, of course, because I’ll never be good enough even for a shower concert. But since during the past few days, people have been blogging about going solo and living independently, I figured I should at least give you one song that I bet you’ll sing after just a couple of months.

I tried living alone, and though I loved the independence that it brings, I just can’t help but miss the simple things that only a real home can provide. And I must say that I was against it at first being the tough hot chic that I was, but living with my mom again, was by far the best decision that I have ever made (btw, she persuaded me for months before I said yes). Sometimes, I even ask her if  I can move out again, like start on my own. And she says I can do that, but she’ll always be knocking on my door. Like all the time.

Anyway, here’s our song. Paul McCartney’s I want to come home.

For so long I was out in the cold,
and I taught myself to believe every story I told.
It was fun hanging onto the moon, heading into the sun,
but it’s been too long. Now I wanna come home.

Came so close to the edge of defeat.
But I made my way in the shade, keeping out of the heat.
It was fun shooting out of the stars, looking into the sun,
but it’s been too long. Now I wanna come home.

Home. Where’s there’s nothing but sweet surrender,
to the memories from afar.
Home. To the place where the truth lies waiting,
we remember who we are.

For too long I was out on my own.
Every day I spent trying to prove I could make it alone.
It was fun hanging onto the moon, heading into the sun,
but it’s been too long. Now I wanna come home.

Home.

For so long I was out in the cold,
but I taught myself to believe every story I told.
It was fun hanging onto the moon heading into the sun,
but it’s been too long. Now I wanna come home.

Yeah, it’s been too long, now I want to come home.
Been too long, now I want to come home.

You come from Point A, I'm from Point B. Everyone has his own origin, but I'm pretty sure about this: that you and I have intersected, at one point or another. Or if we haven't, I'm pretty sure we will... one of these days.
